July 7, 2014 Updated Jul 7, 2014 at 1:19 PM CST

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The I-535/Blatnik Bridge over the St. Louis River between Duluth and Superior will undergo a routine bridge inspection beginning Monday, July 14.

Superior-bound traffic will be restricted to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, July 14 through Thursday, July 17 and Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24.

A vehicle width restriction of 10 feet will also be in effect during the project.

All lanes will be open for the morning and evening peak travel times.
Motorists are asked to be patient and drive carefully near the work zone areas.

This restriction coincides with another construction project impacting the Bong Bridge, closing Duluth-bound traffic through the fall.

The Blatnik Bridge undergoes a comprehensive inspection every two years to help ensure the bridge remains a reliable and safe freight movement and transportation route.
