Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com)--- A Duluth man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of a cab driver Thursday night in Superior. Police say the driver from Courtesy Cab picked up the suspect, 21 year old Antonio Newman, at a business on Tower Avenue and drove him to the 26 hundred Block of North 28th Street. Once stopped, the driver told police he was stabbed multiple times in the chest and hands. Newman allegedly said he also had a gun and demanded money, however authorities don't know if any cash was taken. Police say Newman ran from the scene after the driver disarmed him. He was arrested a short time later on Tower Avenue. "Knives are dangerous. This was an upper chest, probably hit the clavacle, or something that stopped it I mean it's not far from a little more sensitive areas that could have resulted in much more significant injuries. I mean it was obviously a very dangerous and life threatening even," said Deputy Chief Nicholas Alexander with the Superior Police Department. Charges against Newman include Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery. If found guilty, he could face up to 55 years in prison on both charges. Posted to the web by Raeanna Marnati rmarnati@kbjr.com
