Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- A worker at the Fraser Shipyards in Superior was rescued Saturday morning after falling aboard a vessel in winter layup.

Superior Firefighters responded just after 9 Saturday morning to the shipyards, specifically the 680-foot John J. Boland, where a worker had fallen an unknown distance in the ship’s forepeak.

Emergency crews stabilized the man when they reached him, and lifted him out of the chamber onto the ship’s deck.

He was then lowered with another firefighter to an ambulance crew waiting on the road below.

The man was taken to an area hospital with what appear to be non life-threatening injuries.

No more information is available at this time.
