Prescott, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- This is definitely a 4th of July that the Meyer Family of Prescott, WI will never forget.

After he went missing Tuesday afternoon, 5 year old Scotty Meyer was found early Wednesday morning by a good Samaritan and his dog in a wooded area, just a half mile away from his home.

Officials say he has been reunited with his parents and appeared uninjured. He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Meyer went missing around noon on Tuesday when he and his sibling slipped out of the house while a repairman was working in the home. The other child was found in the front yard, however Scotty was still missing.

Scotty's parents were concerned about his safety since their son is a non-speaking autistic and the area that he went missing was near the Mississippi River.

Officials say over 1,000 volunteers were at the local school early this morning to assist with the search. Numerous resources from state and local fire, EMS, emergency management, law enforcement and volunteer agencies were used in the search.

Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove wanted to thank all volunteers and agencies from both Wisconsin and Minnesota that were involved in the search.
