Ashland, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Due to a lightning storm on July 29, the Northland College radio station, 97.7 WRNC-LPFM, is temporarily off the air.
The noncommercial educational station typically broadcasts at 100 watts to the Ashland area.
The lightning storm is believed to have caused a power surge that resulted in the failure of the station's radio transmitter, according to WRNC Station Manager Danielle Kaeding.
WRNC usually broadcasts a 24-hour daily mix of progressive talk, news and music programming.
Kaeding said the station may be back on the air by the end of the week.
In the meantime, WRNC programming remains available for online streaming on the station’s website at www.wrnclp.org.
