Duluth, MN (Northlands NewsCenter) - A Superior trucking company has sacrificed profits and resources to help families in need.

Over the past eight months, Halvor lines has provided 32 trucks, hauling over 835-thousand pounds of food to food shelves all over the Northland.

The collaboration between Halvor and the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank saved 11-thousand dollars in transportation costs for the food bank.

Even though Jon Vinje, owner of Halvor trucking, did sacrifice some profits to make this happen, he wants to encourage more twin-port businesses to give back.

"This experience has been really valuable to me and my company so if there is any opportunity for other businesses to give back to the community in different ways it's a great feeling"

The 32 trucks provided enough food to Northland residents for 668-thousand meals.
