Update:Names Released in Fatal Accident Near Spooner

Spooner, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- One person is dead and two others are in critical condition after a two vehicle accident in Washburn County, Friday night.

Officials from the Wisconsin State Patrol say, the driver, an 82-year-old Illinois man named William King died, on scene.

His wife, 80-year-old Helen King, was a passenger and suffers from life threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, Sean Brayton, a 36-year-old man from Spooner also suffers from life threatening injuries.

The accident happened just before 9.

Emergency officials were on scene for nearly four hours and continue to investigate the crash.

The accident happened just before 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 53 and WI Highway 70.

William was driving his van southbound on Highway 53 and exited onto the Highway 70 ramp.

He pulled into the path of a pick–up truck driven by Brayton traveling westbound.

The truck struck the van on the driver’s side.

Emergency crews were on the scene for nearly four hours.

Other agencies responding included the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, North Ambulance, Spooner and Shell Lake Police Departments.
