Ashland, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Gogebic Taconite is meeting face to face with residents near the proposed mine in the Penokee Hills to answer their concerns.
G-tac held a public One-on-One meeting on Monday to discuss the proposed mine in the Penokee Hills. Meetings took place in both Ashland and Iron counties in 5 different locations throughout the day.
Representatives from G-Tac took the time to speak with individuals in a more private setting and address concerns.
Maps and documents were readily available to better explain the process.
While G-Tac officials were there to make their mission clear, some say that mission is still unclear.
"The most common thing is they hear things from all sides and they wanna just get it from us and hear what we're doing, what's the science behind what we're planning and what's the process, where we are in the process," says Bob Seitz, G-tac Director of External Affairs.
"When asked about the bulk sampling permit, we didn't get a direct anser and if there's anything in that bulk sampling permit and that process that's a problem," said Frank Koehn, a public meeting attendee. "They're already working in Madison to change laws."
The permit for bulk sampling has not been approved for G-TAC yet. They are saying there is still more data to be collected.
