Duluth, MN (Northland’s NewsCenter) – Duluth police are seeking the public’s help identifying two suspects after they allegedly robbed a store in Hermantown and ensued a high speed chase. Monday afternoon.
Two men were reportedly seen stealing and driving a Superior Light and Power vehicle.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Hermantown and Duluth Police received a call to locate a vehicle and suspects from a shoplifting incident that happened at the Hermantown Wal-Mart store.
Police say that after the suspects stole three bags of clothing, they took off in a grey silver Cadillac Seville with Fon-Du-Lac license plates.
The car headed south on Miller Trunk Highway towards Duluth.
A Duluth officer attempted to stop the vehicle when it was spotted on 4th Street and 3rd Avenue East, but it continued southbound on I-35, then I-535 over the Blatnik Bridge into Superior.
Around 1:00 p.m. the Superior Dispatch reported that a City of Superior Water and Light Service vehicle had been stolen in the area of 17th Street and Hammond Avenue.
The Cadillac was located in the same area by Superior police and was unoccupied.
A Duluth officer located the stolen Superior Water and Light vehicle on the Bong Bridge headed towards Duluth on the Bong Bridge and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle would not pull over and was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed.
Officers followed the vehicle until it reached the area of 56th Avenue West and Elinor Street, when the driver fled.
A perimeter was created and a search of the area was conducted, but officials were not successful in locating the suspect.
Officials learned that the vehicle also hit 2 occupied cars in Superior and one occupied and one unoccupied vehicle in Duluth.
Nobody was injured.
