December 11, 2013 Updated Dec 11, 2013 at 1:23 PM CDT

Ashland, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Police Departments across Northwestern Wisconsin are warning people about a phone scam.

Ashland Police say some people are receiving automated phone calls telling them their Chippewa Valley Bank debit card has been deactivated.

They say those are calls are not from the bank and to not follow automated steps.

If you have any questions about your account, you're asked to call the bank directly.

Police say it's possible the scam may be affecting other people than just Chippewa Valley Bank customers.
