Washington, D.C. (NNCNOW.com) - A helping hand from the federal government is on its way to Ashland and Bayfield Counties in the wake of severe storms this summer.

President Obama signed a disaster declaration on Thursday ordering aid and recovery efforts to areas hit by storms, flooding and mudslides in June.

FEMA officials toured the affected areas in Northwestern Wisconsin last month.

Ashland County estimated the cost of total repairs to be around $120,000.

Several other counties in Southern Wisconsin are also getting help.
