Madison, WI (NNCNOWTwo Wisconsin State Senators are proposing a bill that would affect the land surrounding the Proposed Mine in the Penokee Hills.

The proposed bill would allow Gogebic Taconite to close the land managed by the forest around the proposed mining site.

The bill would allow recreational use on some parts of the land during certain times of the year.

In May a peaceful harvest camp was set up on the managed forest land near the drilling sites.

In June one of G–Tac's workers was accosted by a protester while working on the mine site.

The site is located in Ashland and Iron Counties near Mellen Wisconsin.
