Town of Namakagon, WI (NNCNOW.com) - Rescue officials resumed their search Saturday for a man who went overboard a boat on Lake Namakagon Friday afternoon.

Rescue officials got a call just after 3:30 p.m. Friday of a 69-year-old man from Madison who fell into the lake. The Bayfield County Sheriff said the man's fishing partner tried to help him, but the man disappeared under the water.

The Namakagon Fire Department responded to the call and asked for Sawyer County Dive Team's assistance.

Officials say the incident happened about a mile off of Lakewoods Resort on Lake Namakagon.

"We had two people go out with our exposure suits on and we were not able to find him," said Lake Namakagon fire chief Henry Rieckhoff.

Authorities stopped searching for the night, but say they will pick up the search again Saturday morning.

There are two fishing tournaments going on this weekend at the lake.
