Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) -Wisconsin's second wolf hunt started Tuesday.

All six zones across the state opened to hunters and trappers.

251 wolves can be harvested from now until February 28th.

However if a quota is reached in any of the zones, the wolf hunting season in that area will close early.

More than 2,000 wolf hunters and trappers were permitted for this season.

Meanwhile, Friends of the Wisconsin Wolf along with other groups are rallying in Madison and Superior to protest the wolf hunt.
