Six Men Charged In Massive Marijuana Bust

Ashland County, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Six men were charged Friday in U.S. District Court in conjunction with the biggest post bust in Ashland County's history.

The men allegedly cultivated a large marijuana grow operation in the Chequamegon National Forest over a several acre area about 25 miles Northwest of Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Those charged were 19 year old Jose Esqueda–Garcia, 21 year old Cesar Tincoco, 21 year old Moises Lopez Ontiveros, 24 year old Jorge Lopez–Ontiveros and 24 year old Abraham Ramirez all citizens of Mexico. Also charged was 40 year old Norberto Burciago of St. Paul.

If convicted each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in Federal prison.

The million dollar bust was the result of a joint investigation which included the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Ashland County Sheriff's Department, Superior Police and the U.S Customs and Border Protection office.
