Travel not advised throughout Northwestern Wisconsin

January 14, 2014 Updated Jan 14, 2014 at 5:09 PM CDT

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) - While the snow is tapering off in many counties in the Northwest Region, the Wisconsin State Patrol continues to advise against any unnecessary travel the remainder of the day and to use extreme caution if you are out travelling.

Most highways are snow covered and slippery and with high winds expected into the evening hours, visibility and drifting could become an issue. Highway crews will continue to clear roads throughout the evening.

During the day, officers responded to more than 60 crashes and slide-ins when snow was at its heaviest, including several crashes on I-94 near Osseo that shut down westbound lanes for several hours. Two of those crashes involved injuries. The interstate is now open.

For the latest road conditions in Wisconsin, you can log onto the Wisconsin 511 website.
