Iron River Township, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Alcohol is suspected to have played a factor in a weekend ATV accident that left two people seriously hurt.
The Bayfield County Sheriff says the 22-year-old driver, Zachary King of Superior, was found unconscious. His passenger, 18 year-year-old Bridget Tahtinen of Poplar, suffered injuries to her head.
Authorities say as King was negotiating a corner on the road, he drifted across the road, striking an embankment and a tree.
The two were airlifted to hospitals in Duluth. Neither wore a helmet.
Iron River Fire and Ambulance, Bayfield County Deputies, Iron River Police Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance service responded to the incident.
