Update: Identities Released in Fatal Superior Car Crash

Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Police have released the names of the victims involved in the fatal car crash in Superior that took the life of one person.

82 year old Russell Putnam of Superior died at the scene of the accident due to his injuries. His wife, 80 year old Irene Putnam was taken to the hospital following the crash. She is listed in fair condition.

According to police, a semi crashed into a pickup truck driven by Irene Putnam along North 28th Street and Hill Avenue in Superior around 5:30pm Thursday evening.

Authorities say their investigation revealed that the pickup truck made a left turn onto 28th Street in front of the semi that was traveling southbound on Hill Avenue.

The driver of the semi 49 year old Donald Plunkett of South Range, WI was not injured in the crash.

Police say that there is no indication that either alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

The Superior Police Department is continuing to gather information with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol.
