Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) - The Wisconsin Senate has passed Governor Scott Walker's $100 million property tax cut proposal.

Under the plan, a typical homeowner would save $13 next year and $20 after that.

Walker's Administration said the state has an $89 million surplus so the Governor wants to lower the amount homeowners pay in property taxes by $100 million.

Five democrats voted against the bill.

One Senator said the goal of the bill is to help Walker win re-election next year.
