(NNCNOW.com) --- The Wisconsin DNR plans to close wolf harvest zone one, in the northwest part of the state Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Wolf Harvest zone one, includes Douglas, Bayfield Iron Sawyer and Ashland counties.
It's the second zone to be closed in the state's second harvest season.
Hunters have taken 72 of 76 wolves.
“Harvest trends in Zone 1 have been steady with an increased harvest rate over the past few days,” said David MacFarland, DNR large carnivore specialist. “We will be considering harvest trends as we approach quotas in other zones as well."
Statewide, 166 wolves have been harvested.
A total of 251 wolves across Wisconsin can be harvested until February.
