Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Federal Judge Barbara Crabb has struck down Wisconsin's ban on same-sex marriage.

Judge Crabb made her ruling on Friday in connection with a case brought in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin contesting the ban.

In 2006 Wisconsin voter approved an amendment to the state constitution banning same sex marriage.

A statement from Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said current law remains in force, and he appealed the ruling Monday.
