Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Hundreds of Northlanders joined together today to help one woman recover after sustaining 2nd and 3rd degree burns at her workplace.
A little more than a month ago, Avis Phelps the owner of the A&W Restaurant in Superior tripped over a bucket of hot grease.
A spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser was held to raise money to cover the cost of her medical bills.
Since the accident, Phelps has been in and out of the hospital and has had four skin grafts to treat her burns.
Phelps says she wouldn't have recovered this fast without the support of the community.
"There are so many tragic things going on in the world today, so it's nice to know that when things happen that people do care and come out and support other people," Phelps said. "So I really appreciate all the help, it's been wonderful."
Phelps visited the doctor for a check up this week.
She says her burns are healing the way they are supposed to and expects to be back at work soon.
