Madison, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Young motorists in Wisconsin will now have to hang up before they drive.
Governor Scott Walker signed a new law Thursday that prohibits inexperienced drivers from using cellular telephones.
Specifically this law prohibits an individual driving a vehicle with an instructional permit or probationary license from using a cell phone or wireless telephone.
The only exception would be to report an emergency.
Governor Walker said quote, "Learning to drive is a major responsibility." Part of that responsibility he said is focusing on the road.
