Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A 12 year old Wisconsin boy who was killed in a skiing accident on Spirit Mountain has been identified as Trent Stellrecht, according to a family member.
According to the Duluth Police Department, the boy was found lying on the ground in a tree line halfway down a ski run just after four yesterday afternoon.
Spirit Mountain Ski Patrol officers called 911 and began aiding the boy, who was suffering obvious trauma and was reportedly not breathing.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The boy was skiing at Spirit Mountain with a church group from Wisconsin.
According to a family member, Trent was very active in his church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was very close to his family. Trent was also home-schooled and just started football in the fall.
The Northland's NewsCenter spoke with people who were at the ski hill on Saturday who said the conditions were extremely windy and extremely icy.
