St. Paul, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is proposing that Lutsen Mountain ski area be allowed to keep pumping water from the Poplar River.
The river is well below normal flow levels. A state law that allows Lutsen to draw up to 150 million gallons from the river for snow making this fall would normally require the resort to quit pumping if levels got too low.
But the DNR is authorized to issue a special permit based on economic impact.
The DNR is seeking public comment through Nov. 4th at publiccomment.dnr@state.mn.us
