Annual Corn Maze Festival Features New Attractions

Hermantown, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Annual Corn Maze Festival in Hermantown has expanded and will feature new attractions.

The third annual festival will be held at the Engwalls Corn Maze and Agri-tainment Center in Hermantown on October 6th and 7th; it will feature more than two dozen food and craft vendors along with a full schedule of musicians set to play.

Festival officials say music is an integral part of the event this year. Regional musicians scheduled to appear on Saturday include Side Project, Breanne Marie with Jackson Meadows, Mark Rubin, The Adjusments, Ripple Effent and Just Friends.

On Sunday, Greg Tiburzi with Jane Aas, Jen West, Hallbjorn, North Shore Sounds and Side Project with perform.

Musicians will perform under the 3,000 square foot tent, the Engwall's Corn Top.

The food theme is of course, corn, along with popcorn, kettle corn, caramel corn, roasted corn on the cob along wtih other corn themed foods and crafts.

The festival will showcase contests including corn shucking and corn cannon challenges, plus face painting and arts and crafts vendors.

Corn pits and slides, hay rides and corn sling shots are new this year at the festival as well.

The corn maze trails have expanded by almost 20% and new games have been added. Also new this year is an observation tower at the north end of the maze.

The festival is free to the public. The Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank will donate $1 of each full paid admission to the corn maze (8$ per person, $7 for children) to help support their programs.

Others regional non profits will be involved in the festival by raising money for programs including the Hermantown Community Fund and Superior Figure Skating Club.
