GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A mysterious smoke has filled the Twin Cities skyline and no official source has been determined.

Calls from all over the metro are coming into KARE 11, and on Facebook and Twitter people in Minneapolis and St. Paul are reporting suspicious sights and smells.

Others were speculating the smoke is coming from the wildfires in Texas.

The Minnesota Pollution Control tells KARE 11 the source of the smoke is likely one or more fires burning in near Ely, Minn. The MPC added this type of scenario isn't unusual.

KARE 11 meteorologist Jerrid Sebesta says it would not be unusual to see smoke from northern Minnesota in the Twin Cities with winds coming out of the north as they have been Friday afternoon.
