Four Northland Beaches Under Beach Advisory

August 8, 2013 Updated Aug 8, 2013 at 9:56 AM CST

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Water contact is not recommended at four Northland beaches due to elevated E. coli levels.

The following beaches have a beach advisory alert:
- Agate Bay Beach located in Two Harbors

- Minnesota Point Harborside / 15th Street Beach located on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth at 15th Street.

- 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach located on the harbor-side of Park Point, at 20th Street.

- Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach located on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth, at the end of Minnesota Avenue.

The elevated E. coli levels could be due to the presence of fecal contamination in the water. If you become sick after coming into contact with the water at the beaches listed above, you are asked to call the Minnesota Health Department.

The water at each of the beaches will be tested again later today.
