Hermantown, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Hermantown Police Department would like to remind hunters that they must acquire a permit from the department in order to deer hunt within the city limits.

Hunters must provide an application that includes the landowner's information for the property or properties they want to hunt on.

Police officials say that hunting is allowed on plots of land east of LaVaque Road that is five acres of more.

West of LaVaque Road, there is no size restriction, except that any subdivision properties must equal five acres or more.

Any number of properties may make up the five acre requirement as long as they connect.

A completed application will include the hunter's name, address, phone number, the type of bow and arrows being used, the landowner's name, address and phone number, the parcel number, legal decription, number of acres for each property, the hunter's driver's license or ID and State of Minnesota archery hunting license.
