Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- The Superior Hiking Trail is now connected from Jay Cooke State Park all the way to Canada.

A ribbon cutting Saturday morning celebrated the completion of 54 miles of trail built since 2006 that links the hiking route from Duluth to Two Harbors.

The trail is maintained and managed by the Superior Hiking trail association, with some help from volunteers.

"We've had over 200-300 volunteers, who've given thousands of hours to volunteer labor to connect this trail," said Executive Director of the Superior Hiking Trail Association Gayle Coyer. "real volunteer effort, really an amazing feat what these volunteers have done to connect this trail."
