Lake Superior Beach Advisory Update

August 1, 2012 Updated Aug 1, 2012 at 10:44 AM CDT

Beach Advisories have been removed for Kadunce Creek Beach and the Agate Bay Beach.

Water contact was not recommended for these beaches on July 31 due to elevated bacteria levels.

Those levels are now considered acceptable by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Kadunce Creek Beach is located at Kadunce Creek picnic area north of Grand Marais, on the north-west side of the Kadunce Creek mouth.

Agate Bay Beach is located in Two Harbors.

Advisories have been put in place for the 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach and the Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach.

Elevated E. coli bacteria levels shown from samples taken on July 31 indicate the possible presence of fecal contamination.

Both of the beaches will be re-sampled on August 1.

20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach is located on the harbor-side of Park Point, at 20th Street.

The Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach is located on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth, at the end of Minnesota Avenue.
