Sky watchers will be gifted with the sight of a partial lunar eclipse across the Northland on Saturday morning as the moon sets to the western sky.
The moon sets on the horizon at 7:44am and the sun rises at 7:42am
Then on Saturday evening there is a chance to see the Northern Lights on the northern horizon between the hours of 10pm and 2am. The KP Index is a 4 so they may not be the most vibrant displays, so the best way to see them if they do happen is away from light pollution in the city.
The skies are expected to be clear overnight tonight and Saturday night.
