DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A long awaited pavilion at the Jean Duluth Soccer field is officially under construction.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held this evening for the new Bob Pratt Pavilion.
Soccer club leaders say it's a relief to finally have the pavilion at one of Duluth's busiest soccer fields where there is currently no shelter.
The naming of the shelter is dedicated to a man who was very much involved with the sport.
"I can remember when Bob was new. He wasn't going to be living long. He came to meetings even then, and after the meetings he had talked to me at one time about how this is really something he wished could happen, to have a nice structure up here," said Bob Espenson, president of Arrowhead Youth Soccer.
The city plans to celebrate the redevelopment of a different park Thursday.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the new Lakewalk Park, which is located on the corner of Lake Avenue and the Lakewalk in Canal Park.
