Operation Ice Angel

ASHLAND, WI (The Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Ashland Fire Department is one of the few agencies in the country to utilize fast-moving, ultra-durable wind-sleds to rescue victims on area lakes and rivers.

While the sleds can go just about anywhere, fire-fighters count on them to save lives when conditions on Lake Superior turn treacherous.

How do these machines work? Why do rescuers practice driving them? And what exactly is "Operation Ice Angel" ?
