Cass County, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking public review and input on a proposal to authorize state grant-in-aid trail funding for a 56-mile ATV trail in Cass and Crow Wing counties.

Adding the trail to the grant-in-aid system will provide more funding for trail signs, maintenance, monitoring and repair.

Cass County will sponsor the proposal and provide trail development and maintenance.

A portion of the trail provides connections to Remer and Cass Lake to the north, and Moose Lake and Onamia to the south. It also travels along state highways and county forest roads.

ATV use is already allowed on the entire trail corridor. The trail will continue to be open to nonmotorized use in the Land O' Lakes State Forest.

The trail may closed at times for safety or to prevent erosion or trail damage.
