Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Strong winds made for a shaky commute for many drivers while this service sign near Proctor on I–35 literally snapped in half as a result of the impending storm.

Lake Superior was also roaring as huge waves crashed up against the shore.

The winds also did some major damage to the tarp covering Duluth's Aerial Lift Bridge.

The tarp has been protecting the bridge this winter as crews work on painting and other reconstruction efforts on the Park Point side.

No word yet on how much money it'll take to either fix the tarp or replace it completely.

Also no word on when work on the bridge can resume.

The strong winds struck a street light Sunday tonight in Duluth...the downed light blocked traffic while crews cleared it off of the street.

It happened on 12th Avenue East and 4th Street

A number of other minor incidents have been reported.
