SUPERIOR, WISC. (The Northland's NewsCenter) --- Over 2,500 people enjoyed warm, holiday cheer in Superior on Thursday as the University hosted its 5th annual WinterFest.

Winterfest is a campus–community tradition offering indoor and outdoor events for people of all ages.

According to UWS organizers, the purpose of the event is to foster goodwill between the campus and outlying community.

Special appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, free horse–drawn wagon ride, a holiday craft fair and revolving, holiday-themed musical performances were all part of the fun.

The event was free, though guests were encouraged to bring food donations for the Northern Lakes Food Bank.

Organizers estimate attendance was over 2,500 happy, holiday revelers.
