Water Contact Not Advised at Three Duluth Beaches

August 3, 2012 Updated Aug 3, 2012 at 11:50 AM CDT

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Beach goers are advised not to go into the water at three Duluth beaches due to elevated E. coli bacteria.

The beaches include:
- 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach on the harbor-side of Park Point, at 20th Street.

- Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth, at the end of Minnesota Avenue.

- Minnesota Point Harborside/15th Street Beach (formerly New Duluth Boat Club/14th street Beach) on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth at 15th Street.

The elevated E. coli levels found in the water samples could be due to fecal contamination.

The water at each beach will be re-sampled again on Monday, August 6th.
