Water Contact Not Recommended at Three Duluth Beaches

August 30, 2012 Updated Aug 30, 2012 at 7:03 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Water contact is not recommended at three Duluth beaches due to elevated E. coli levels.

The Minnesota Health Department is asking beach goers to stay out of the water at the following beaches:

1. Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth, at the end of Minnesota Avenue.

2. Minnesota Point Harborside / 15th Street Beach (formerly New Duluth Boat Club / 14th Street beach) on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth at 15th Street.

3. 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach on the harbor-side of Park Point, at 20th Street.

The elevated E. coli levels could be due to fecal contamination in the water at these beaches.

If you become sick after coming into contact with the water at these beaches, please contact the Minnesota Health Department.

The water at these beaches will be re-sampled on Thursday, August 30th.
