The Minnesota Department of Health has issued advisories for the following beaches:
The Minnesota Point Harborside/15th Street Beach (formerly the New Duluth Boat Club/14th Street Beach), the 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach and the Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach.
Water contact is not recommended on these beaches due to elevated E. coli bacteria levels that were identified from samples taken on July 18.
The samples indicate the possible presence of fecal contamination.
The beaches will be re-sampled on July 19.
An advisory has been removed from the Grand Marais Downtown Beach.
Fecal indicator bacteria levels are now at an acceptable level.
