NFL Adopts New Regular-Season Overtime Rules

NFL owners on Wednesday voted to adopt new regular-season overtime rules, opting to put into place the modified sudden death format that was introduced for the playoffs last year, according to a story posted on NFL.com.

According to the NFL.com story:

Teams will now have the opportunity to possess the ball at least once in the extra period unless the team that receives the overtime kickoff scores a touchdown on its first possession.
