President Obama Releases 2011 Tax Return

According to The White House blog, President Barack Obama on Friday released his 2011 federal income and gift tax returns.

In a joint return, Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama reported an adjusted gross income of $789,674. They paid $162,072 in total taxes for an effective federal income tax rate of 20.5 percent, according to The White House blog.

The Obamas also reported donating a total of $172,130 to 39 different charities, according to the blog.
