Woman Who Faked Cancer And Scammed Community Sentenced to Prison

An Indiana woman was sentenced to prison on Monday for faking cancer and collecting thousands of dollars in donations, according to a report from Granite Broadcasting sister station Indiana's NewsCenter.

According to the report from Indiana's NewsCenter:

An Angola, Ind., woman who faked having cancer to collect thousands of dollars in donations appeared in court on Monday for her sentencing.

She was sentenced to two years in prison and of those two years she must serve at least 60 days. The woman was also fined $10,000 as part of her sentence.

Last month, the woman pleaded guilty to one count of theft for stealing thousands of dollars from Angola community members at a fundraiser she set up.
