A bear that had been marked for death but was sent to a bear sanctuary instead has died.

Solo had been hibernating under a cabin near Ely in northeastern Minnesota last December when officials decided she had to be destroyed because she had lost her fear of humans.

She was sent to a refuge in upper Michigan instead, and died over the winter after going back into hibernation.
