Polkafest To Leave Chisholm

By KBJR News 1

Polkafest is moving away from Chisholm.

Polkafest came to Ironworld in the 1980s at the request of Governor Rudy Perpich.

Before that, it had moved among different cities in northeastern Minnesota.

There were 13,000 people at Polkafest during its first year there, but fewer than 3,000 last year.

Ironworld's chief operations officer Steve Harsin says organizers hope to reinvigorate the event by moving it after this year's June 27th weekend at Ironworld.
