By KBJR News 1

The Leech Lake Tribal College has been awarded a federal grant worth almost three million dollars to make improvements to its campus.

Tuesday, Minnesota Congressman Jim Oberstar announced that the U.S. Department of Education will award the Leech Lake Tribal College the grant from its Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities Program.

The grant will be used to help pay for a new library, expand the college's office and administrative space, and build additional space for special events and community meetings.

Enrollment at the school has nearly doubled in the past five years.
