Chisholm Man Fined For Illegal Possession Of Lynx

By KBJR News 1

A 60-year old Chisholm man will have to pay a $1,500 fine for illegal possession of a threatened Minnesota species.

Roderick Robert Kottom, a taxidermist from Chisholm, was found to have a mounted Canada Lynx that had been illegally taken.

Kottom, also known as Papa Fisher was sentenced on August 7th.

The arrest was made after the U-S Fish and Wildlife investigated Kottom... using a study done by the Natural Resources Research Institute in Duluth.

The NRRI has been researching the viability of the "Canada Lynx" in Minnesota after tracking their journey from Canada into the state.

With that data, Fish and Wildlife investigators were able to prove the Lynx in Kottom's possession was one that the NRRI has been tracking in Minnesota.

Along with the fine Kottom must also serve two years probation.
