$916 Million Project Planned Near Ely

A new 916 million dollar project, being planned near Ely, would create as many as one thousand jobs in the area.

That's according to The Minneapolis Business Journal which says Duluth

Metals, a Toronto based company, wants to process 20,000 metric tons a day of copper, nickel, and other non ferrous minerals from its Nokomis deposit in Minnesota's Duluth Complex.

The hope is to begin production by 2012.
