Community members in Virginia are coming together to help one woman recently diagnosed with stage four brain cancer.

Tory Ann Peterson's friends and coworkers have planned a spaghetti benefit tomorrow to raise money for medical bills.

Tory Ann Peterson enjoys serving people in the community as the head cook at the Range Medical Health Center.

She never thought the community would be banding together to help her.

"When things like this come at you like the curveball I was dealt it opens your eyes to a whole other side of what people may go through when they are subjected to something this horrible," said Peterson.

After a suffering a seizure at work in September, Tory was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer.

Tory, who has two daughters who are 10 and 13, is staying optimistic.

"Hopefully with all the treatments I can be back on my feet before too long and back in the saddle again, so to speak," said Peterson.

"Tory's a fighter, if anyone can beat this it's her, she's just that kind of person," said coworker Jerry Larsen.

Tory's coworkers, who she says help her continue her fight against her cancer, have organized a spaghetti benefit at the Sports Page Bar.

The outpouring from the community overcomes Tory with emotion.

"I'm humbled that I know I just have so many people that are supporting me and my family and my friends its just hard for me to put into words how I feel," she said.

"I think to see someone at such a young age with two young daughters...we wanted to do everything we could," said coworker Sandy Wallin.

Tory will return to the Mayo Clinic in two weeks for more treatment.

All of the food for tomorrow's benefit was donated.
