MN DNR Urges Hunters To Use Caution

By KBJR News 1

Posted by Melissa Burlaga

Minnesota's deer hunting opener is under two weeks away and the DNR wants to get hunters safety minded ahead of time.

The DNR says people need to be especially cautious while hunting in farm country this year.

The cooler than normal summer has delayed the harvest so there is still a lot of standing corn in farm fields.

Those who sell hunting arms and ammunition offer these safety tips.

"Make sure you can see what you are shooting. Don't shoot at sounds. Listen to experienced people that have hunted that area before. Keep your gun on safety and know your target."

Minnesota's 2009 firearms deer season opens at sunrise on Saturday, November 7th.
